Costs
At No. 1 Fertility, it’s our goal to ensure that the opportunity to create a family is accessible to everyone.
Medicare Rebates
The Medicare Benefits Schedule (MBS) provides a rebate for out-of-pocket costs for out-of-hospital services (including GP and specialist attendances). The Extended Medicare Safety Net (EMSN) provides an additional rebate for those whose costs go over an annual threshold.
The Extended Medicare Safety Net threshold for 2025 is $2,615.50
To ensure you qualify for a Medicare rebate, it’s important to have a valid referral from your GP or specialist before attending appointments or starting your treatment cycle. GP referrals remain valid for 12 months, providing ongoing support, while specialist referrals are valid for up to three months. Make sure both your name and your partner’s (if applicable) are included on the referral.
Once your treatment cycle has been completed, No.1 Fertility will handle the process of submitting a claim to Medicare on your behalf. A rebate will be paid into your nominated bank account within 3-5 business days post lodgement.
The accounts team can assist you in providing a treatment quote and your applicable Medicare rebates. For any questions relating to Medicare rebates and the application of the Medicare Safety Nets (OMSN and EMSN) you can contact Medicare directly on 132011 or visit humanservices.gov.au.
There is no Medicare rebate for Specialist Day Hospital procedures; however, some anaesthetic services may attract a Medicare rebate. The amount covered for these admissions will depend on your level of private health insurance. For more information on Private Health cover, please visit Private Health – Fertility Expert Dr Lynn Burmeister
